We are always delighted to meet new patients. In order to ensure that each person is able to have a comprehensive consultation, we schedule new patient consultations for 45 - 60 minutes.
Since Dr. Summers is only able to give his full attention to one patient at a time, and there are limited hours in the work week, we ask for you patience in understanding that your consultation with Dr. Summers may be scheduled several months after the date of your initial request for a consultation.
Because Dr. Summers performs a thorough evaluation on your first visit, he is typically not able to perform a procedure at that time. Occasionally, exceptions can be arranged for injections (eg. filler injections, Botox) or when scheduled in advance. Other medical spa treatments (fractional laser, non-ablative laser, laser chemical peel, microdermabrasion, IPL, etc.) may be performed on the same day of your initial consultation, if applicable and based on availability.
Non-Surgical Treatments and Minor Procedures (see below) may be scheduled immediately after your initial consultation and will not require a second consultation. However, patients who desire to have a surgical procedure (even minimally invasive procedures performed under a local anesthesia such as Dr. Summers' exclusive One-Hour Facelift, ultrasonic or laser lipolysis, and "scarless" breast reduction procedures) are required to have a second consultation and some minor lab work performed pre-operatively. The second consult and subsequent surgery are typically 4-8 weeks after the initial consultation. Note: special arrangements are made for out-of-town guests.
When you schedule your initial consultation, you will be asked for your credit card number to hold your appointment. However, YOUR CARD WILL NOT BE PROCESSED. The card will only be processed for a no-show fee ($50) if you fail to arrive for your scheduled appointment and you have not given us at least one business day notice.
In order to achieve the best environment for your consultation, and in consideration of our other guests, we ask that you please leave small children at home (The Maryland Plastic Surgery Center and Medical Spa is an adult facility) and place your cell phone on the "silent" or vibrate mode. We appreciate your understanding of these policies.
Non-Surgical Treatments and Minor Procedures which may be scheduled immediately after the initial consultation include: fractional laser resurfacing, laser hair removal, laser chemical peel, intense pulsed light therapy (IPL), GFX brow furrow reduction, Sculptra injection, Radiesse injection, Juvederm injection, Thermage, Titan, Botox, mole removal, scar revision, endermologie, microdermabrasion, chemical peel, and other treatments provided in our Medical Spa.
Deposit: Scheduling your surgery requires a non-refundable $500 deposit. Be confident in the date you choose and in your surgical decision before you schedule the procedure. This deposit will not be refunded if you cancel your surgery for any reason.
Payment Forms: Cash, cashier’s checks, certified bank checks, money orders, VISA and MasterCard are accepted. Personal checks will not be accepted less one month before the surgery. Financing options are available; please see the section on
Financing on this website or ask us for more information if you are interested. Please note that all quotations include a “cash discount”.
Balance Due: The remaining balance is due in-full one month prior to your surgery. If the balance is not paid in full by this time, you will forfeit your deposit and your selected surgery date will be released and another patient may schedule into that date/time slot.
Cancellation: We understand that unexpected events, such as a personal or family emergency, can arise. However, if you cancel or re-schedule your surgery with less than four weeks notice, you will forfeit your deposit and incur a financial penalty of up to fifty-percent (50%) of the total fee due.
Other Fees: You may be required to have a medical exam, lab work, or other diagnostic test which may not be covered by your health insurance. The cost of these tests is solely your responsibility and surgery cannot be performed unless these test results are submitted to our office. In addition, you are responsible for the cost of any medications we prescribe for you either before or after surgery. Finally, you agree to pay for other items, such as compression garments, bras or other specialty items not enumerated on your quotation.
